Tis the Season

This is one of my favorite photographs of the year. The picture here is not as clear as I would like it to be, it is of a hand holding brightly colored leaves. I believe the print is for sale in my shop...that is a better representation. I have not listed any of the pieces shown here in my shop, however they are available for purchase.
I received a new camera last week. Hubby got it for me! It takes me a while to warm up to a new "gadget". I have had my current camera for a few years, but just starting being on friendly terms with it this year. Hopefully, I can take clearer pics with my new "friend". I am sure we will get along swimmingly once we start chatting.
Christmas is coming, (as evidenced by the stunning high of 29 degrees today) and hubby always wants a list from me. Yes, I am spoiled. So far on my list is a Wascom tablet. A what? he says...a Wascom tablet, I say. I guess I have to lead him through this one. For those of you who also do not know what a Wascom tablet is..it is sort of a digital drawing tablet that you attach to your computer. It would be very handy when editing artwork and photographs. There is a lasso on photoshop that I use, but to draw or outline with it, you have to use your mouse and that is not always easy.

If you are interested in any of these pieces, just drop me an email!

Pretend

Illustration Fridays' word this week is pretend..I found this just waiting in my sketch book!

What little girl doesn't like to pretend? The most recurring pretend theme being that of a happy mommy! I had drawn this as a quick sketch. One of my friends is planning on writing a childrens book and gave me a few pictures of her little girl for inspiration regarding possible illlustrations for her book. Until I scanned the sketch an hour ago, it was just that, a pencil sketch. I painted and drew on it digitally, and that is what you see here. She looks so happy and protective of her pretend babies!
Post note: MY apologies if you are linking here from Illustration Friday! I posted three times on there..with errors the other two! I thought I could delete them but couldn't figure out how..so emailed IF to ask for a leeetle help! T.y. Jenn

Always and Everywhere

If you read my Shabby blog, yes this is a repeat post! But I wanted to make sure more people actually get to see this:
I wanted to share something with you that I saw online today. My graduating class has a yahoo group that we keep in touch on and post updates ect. A classmates' wife has been diagnosed with terminal cancer. Apparently they and their two young children live in a condo with stairs that are making it painful for her to navigate. They need to move to something more comfortable for her. When I went to this site regarding their family I saw happiness in the pictures posted of them together. I know they must be struggling, but they appear to be doing it effortlessly in these pictures. A very obviously, wonderful and talented friend of theirs decided to write and publish a book to help raise money for this family. The book is about their children and how Mom is anwering some of their tough questions. The illustrations are adorable and the book looks absolutely sweet and full of love. I plan to buy one as soon I get done with this post! It was hard to make myself wait until after I cleaned up a bit to write this...as I wanted to get the word out! So please, please visit this link...you will be touched and inspired. Consider buying the book this holiday season!

Our Upstate Igloo

Yes, we live in an igloo. Or technically a geodesic dome home. It was bought during a fire drill...well actually we were hard pressed to find a decent and affordable house when we moved back here from Arkansas. Hubby actually saw it while I was still in Arkansas and he was house shopping in NY. He sent me pics of it..and I said go for it. It is quite the novelty, and not always very practical......cute no less. I love the way it looks in the winter all coated with snow.
